Depending if you wish to have a portable GPS system or one that is installed in your vehicle.

For install GPS system, the Alpine, Pioneer and Panasonic GPS systems are pretty solid. Alpine is installed in most factory-installed vehicles like Honda, Acura and some Mercedes.

For aftermarkets GPS systems consider Garmin, TomTom and Magellan, all 3 manufacturers are excellent and prices and features is what you should compare.

Personal preference makes a huge different, known how much you wish to spend and what features you wish to have will make a great difference when selecting a aftermarket GPS system.

Garmin!!! Easy to work, inexpensive at radio shack, and last a long time.

Garmin.  Large user community, best customer support, and easier to use than TomTom (which I would rate 2nd).

I have a Tom-Tom and it's pretty good but my brother has a Garmin 340 and it a little better and easier to use.

Garmin, it's just hard to install more vehicles :(
