Something to think about!  If you are looking to maintain your carpet following manufactures warranty - then you must have it professionally STEAM cleaned once a year (keep receipt).  This way, if you happen to need to file a claim on your carpet (they will ask you to produce receipt)you are not voiding your warranty.

I used to use the Rug Doctor that normal grocery stores rent out.  I don't know the model, as they have also changed, become more compact and lighter over the years.  I now have a Bissell I bought at Walmart and with kids it has paid for itself many times over.

Why are women getting lazy as time goes by?

Get on your hands and knees and wash the rug with a scrub brush. Cleaning is your duty as a woman and frankly people taking the easy way out is getting annoying.

I agree with Sheila, the Rug Doctor always took out any stains or spills no matter how bad they were. You can usually get one at Stater Bros. It isn't to expensive to rent it or buy one. And I also think that joox put an idiotic answer too, because women are people too and not slaves. Even though I'm a guy, women deserve respect just as much as men do:)

The reason carpet mills require professional steam cleaning is because it cleans the best and leaves almost no residue (most professional who know what they are doing)

Do it yourself carpet cleaners leave soap residues in the carpet that cause rapid re-soiling. You can avoid this by hiring a professional or after you are done cleaning go over the carpet slowly with the machine and just water to rinse the soap out of the carpet.
