  1. well if you want good mixers go for pioneer

but if you want a REALLY GOOD! mixer you should go for SERATO which is a mixer where you can use MP3 Files instead of CDs ^__^

  2. It depends on what kind of DJ you want to be.

Chances are that if you are asking this, you are probably just starting or thinking about it...

I would suggest you get a catalogue from like Musician's Friend, Sweetwater, or Pro Sound and Stage Lighting and just start watching for the features you want.

I started with two crappy belt driven turntables and a beaten up mixer. I got it all used from some local DJ's. If you know any local DJ's chances are they have tons of equipment to sell you as most of us do.

As for brands, most brands make at least one product that is pretty good. Some brands almost everything they make is awesome but they cost a heck of a lot more.

Pioneer, Allen&Heath, M-audio, Technics, Vestax, and Numark are all reputable and most of their products are always decent to good.

Stanton, Berringer, and Gemini are all pretty hit and miss.

If you take good care of your gear most of it will hold its value pretty well for resale so if you get something you don't like, replace it and sell it asap. Keep all your boxes, documentation and so forth.

Email me or message me if you want I like talking about this stuff.
