What is the best camera for an independent filmmaker?

Im going to start making some films. i want to get a cammera That its good for the job. A camera that I could hold for a long time and make quality films with it,

I want to carry it arround, and be able to change the lenses. i can pay some moeny, but i would really rather a chea one. So, witch one do you guys think its the best value??

  1. What's your budget? An interchangeable lens system boosts the price significantly. Take a look at Canon's XL-1s (~$2,200) or the newer XL-2 (~3,300). They're quality standard definition MiniDV camcorders with an interchangeable system.

    There are many cheaper fixed-lens camcorders that can produce outstanding results with the right accessories and mods. The Canon HV20 and HV30 are popular examples.
