I have a soft coated wheaten terrier (around 70 lbs) and a German shepherd pit bull mix (around 50 lbs) and want to be able to take them with my husband and myself when we go canoing.

You need a 17 or 18 foot canoe. Aluminium or fiberglass/resin depening on the river environment. A river without rocks - aluminum. Boulders and rocks - fiberglass/resin. It needs to be stable as the dogs will be jumping out. Plastic canoes will be too flexible. Buy a canoe/klayak magazine and read their reviews.
