What is the best car for a teenager about to turn 16 years old?

im almost old enough to get my learners and my parents told me they would get me a car. but i would like to know what a good automatic car is.

You wont like this but a 4-door like a Buick or a Chevy would be you best bet for your first car, get some experience and save some insurance until you get better........

If you are getting a car make sure it has four doors, even if it's not a "sports" car the insurance company will say it is if it only has 2 doors and will charge you more.

If you live in the north and deal with a lot of snow then a subaru (with 4wheel drive), a chevy s-10, or a bronco are usually good bets, my ford tempo did great in the snow too. Just stay away from a car with 2 doors, jeeps, and anything that coast over $20,000 or is over 10 years old , they all have higher insurance.

First off, learn on a manual.  You don't truly know how to drive until you can drive stick.  Second, for your age I would probably recommend something small and efficient but safe, maybe a Chevy Cavalier or something of that nature.  Those are automatic these days, I believe.  But like I said, look into manual, you'll learn so much more from driving one of those.  And h**l, they're really more FUN to drive too.

yeah the Scion Tc is actually geared towards kids like you so its easy to customize at the delaership and its a reallly fun little car to drive and cheap too

I agree with the list of cars previuosly mentioned, the Focus is a good car and also Honda's and Toyota's.  My best advise is to try to get an older vehicle that you only need to carry liability insurance on.  For youthful drivers insurance is very expensive, so a liability vehicle will be a lot more affordable.
