  1. Kenwood, Alpine, Clarion, and Pioneer are the top brands. Once you get into radios, you're looking to spend at least $140-150 in order for it to have all of the inputs and outputs you'll need to hook up your amp. Then, depending on vehicle, you'll have to spend approximately $50-150 on parts. (What kind of vehicle do you have? And more cars are around the $50-75 range) Oh, and anything higher than $150 for a radio, you're paying for all of the cute little features that go with it, the quality of the radio will be the same across the board. My only suggestion is to not get the bottom model of any of those brands, because more than likely, it won't have the inputs to hook up the amp.

As for amp and subs, I'm a kicker girl. I pretty much love everything about them. For a pair of Kicker CVRs (800 watt RMS) in a vented box (which is pretty common) and the 750watt amp to go with it,  you'll spend about $800. That's including wiring kit. Installation depends on where you go (unless you do it yourself) for all of the items, Circuit City would install it for $70. (Radio is free install if you buy from there, however, pioneer is the only brand they have)

Also, you could go a little lower for the subs and amp and get a Kicker comp vented box (300 watt RMS) w/an amp and install kit for $600.

    Hope I helped.

  2. any sony xplod.

  3. hifonics subs and amps are decent

  4. There are too many good amps and subs but I think for the money,  Alpine makes some of the best stereos out there.   Under 200 will get you a nice unit with easy to use full speed ipod control and great sound control.
