Question:

What is the best car to fit 3 carseats in back?

I have a long trailblazer, and if you haven't had this vehicle you would think you could put 3 carseats in the back. But the trick is 2 only fit in the middle row and once they are installed the only way to get to the third row is to crawl into the trunk. So if I put my oldest in the back, I would have to crawl into the trunk (hope there isn't a stroller in the way! Or groceries, etc.) and put my daughter in and take her out. She is too young to buckle and unbuckle her own seat.

  1. Generally speaking, with minivans, the 2nd row of seats only seat 2 passengers & the 3rd row accomodates 3 passengers.

    With "normal sized" SUV's it's just the opposite (2nd row=3 passenger, 3rd row=2 passenger.

Typically most sedans (mid-full size) are designed for 3 passengers in the rear but not neccessarily 3 child seats (which all vary in dimensions).

You can also check into the "Crossover" vehicles as well and good luck..........

  2. Wouldn't it just be easier to use birth control?

  3. First, with no one in the middle row, put one in the back, put a child in it, and buckle that child.  Then put the other 2 in the middle after.

When ready to remove the children, first remove the 2 in the middle row and their seats.  Then, with the middle row empty, unbuckle the child in the back.

  4. I am having a similar problem, except my oldest is 8 and no longer in a car seat, but it's still a VERY tight fit between two car seats.  After countless trips to car dealerships, I have concluded that the only reasonable vehicle to accommodate us is a minivan.  Good Luck!!
