a rubberized case off ebay, you'll save a load compared to the leather cases and pouches, and they wont crack like the polycarbonate plastic cases

It really depends on what you want the unit to look like when you are done.  

- If you are looking for something that doesn't change the look of the phone a whole lot... Silicone rubber or hard plastic protectors are great and don't change the size of the phone a whole lot but they don't protect the screen.

- If you are looking for something that will look like a business phone...  Leather cases look very flashy and many have plastic covers to protect the screen.  But if you sweat the oil from your skin tends to get under plastic shield and makes things look bad.

- If you want your BB to last a nuclear war and don't give a d**n how big it gets look at the Otterbox Defender series.
