  4. The Sony Ericsson S500i! Hehehehehe

  5. Hammer and chisel a message  then have them throw it to you.

  6. "Old people"???? Wow - I can't wait until YOU'RE 50-something; you sound like a total moron.

Get them some nice simple Samsung models - like a T219.  It's got all the basics, and a few bells and whistles, and they're inexpensive as a rule.  Just because the features are there doesn't mean that your parents have to use them if they don't want to.

  7. Don't they have a land line?  They can always call you on that.  But a mobile phone is great for safety and convenience if something happens while they're out.

I'd say if you're going to get them one, get one that's easy to use. On most phones you can just show them how to dial your number and hit send.  Program your number in for them.

A prepaid plan is usually a pretty good deal for people that don't like cell phones or technology and won't use it much. Just make sure they recharge it often, and get them gift cards for minutes and then reload it for them. The phone can be basic since it's not a cool accessory for them like it is for the rest of the world.

PS They probably aren't as old as you think, LOL!
