Depending on the use, check the gauge / AWG / contacts and buy the 'no-name' cable that suits you.

For speakers, It's wise to check the AWG and buy the thickest one. Ideally the resistance of the total length of wire being used should be less than 5% of the load.

For interconnects, the resistance of the wire is not a big problem but the quality of signal is.

For digital links like HDMI, most of the signal 'flows' on the surface of the cable and so once again an error free (read as good quality with with good contacts) cable is better.
