Question:

What is the best/cheapest way to call out of state without having a LD carrier?

I dont have a LD carrier and usually use those '10-10...' numbers when I have to make a call, but I'm wondering if anyone knows any good ways to go about making a LD call?

I use '10-10-321' but have no idea what others are out there. Or should I get a phone card for my rare LD calls? Or get a pigeon with a little message carrier on its leg instead?

any help/any idea greatly appreciated! costs would help a bit too. :)

  1. I would say either Magic Jack or a Skype line would suit you.

  2. with the MagicJack!!

  3. Use a service like webcalldirect.com

If you make only occasional calls that don' t last more than a few minutes, it's free (depending on which country you are calling. Works for calls to the UK, Australia and France). Some countries you have to buy credit for.

I wouldn' t use Magic Jack - they give no information about international calls on their web site and wouldn' t be worth it for occasional calls as you say.

  4. I have used 1010-YAK (1010-925) with good results to call from Canada to USA.

My brother, who lives in Albuquerque, NM  uses YAK 1010-925 to call Brazil, and seems to like it.

    All Calls in USA/Canada are 5 cent/min.

Nothing to buy, Nothing to sign-up for, no contracts.... just dial 1010-925.

Charges show up on your regular phone bill.
