  1. HIARCS, Rybka and Zappa are considered the best. I have never seen a recent ranking or computer tournament not won by any one of these engines.

  2. How advanced are you?  Some people think they are advanced because they can beat everyone in their family but never heard of castling.

No offense, I don't know if you are 2500 or 1200.  (US ratings, sorry if you are a Brit.)

    Here is some free stuff.

I recommend you try the free stuff before buying a tougher program.  The commercial programs may be overkill if you are an "advanced player" in your family only.:)

If you are a master or so, these free programs will be  too weak.

  3. If you have a duel core then you can get deep fritz. Rybka is also very good.

  4. Chessmaster 10th Edition!

  5. Fritz 11 its a great program ,it helps u analyze ur games in a deep way

And if u want to play more than learn and practice (Well, playing is also another way to learn and practice but slower) then download this program..  www.playchess.com U can play with so many ppl online it also tells u ur rating!

  6. Hello --

Fritz and ChessMaster  are the great programs -- for learning and playing.

I thought I'd offer a free program just on the off chance you wanted something for your playing pleasure.

Nagaskaki chess is a pretty strong program, I hope you playing it.

Best of luck in your adventure,
