What is the best christmas present you have ever given to your kids?

I have three kids ages 5, 9, and 12. They have tons of toys and games. I know it's only June but am already thinking of some great presents that they would really love.

No kids, but the best would be nothing that you can buy at any store.

I once bought a girlfriends kids, and ourselves bicycles, so we could all go together.  That was a winner!

The Nintendo DS we gave our 8 year-old, with Animal Crossing game, has been the most used toy ever - there is never a day when she doesn't use it, six-months on.

Books.  I have three kids about the same ages as yours.  They also have plenty of toys and games.  What's great about a book is that it's compact, portable, inexpensive, doesn't require batteries and provides hours of entertainment on long car/plane trips :-)

I don't know where you live but I know here in the Northwest an idea gaining popularity is have your kids pick out a gift and donate it to some kids who wouldn't be getting any. It should make you and your kids feel great and help out others thats what matters really, you can make it a tradition and maybe they will continue through there lives.
