I would like to be on an island, not mainland (although, labrador Is fine)

Small town

On the actual coast, not inland

And with a relatively nice and slow paced community

  1. Although it's a 30-minute ferry ride to the mainland and then a 45-minute trip to Halifax, you could be talking about Tancook Island, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia.

Another two hours down the South Shore, and connected to the mainland by a causeway with a spectacular beach, you will find Lockeport.

Both are relatively nice and slow paced.

  2. I think the perfect city for you is Sydney, Nova Scotia. First of all it's on an island (Cape Breton Island) but it not far from the mainland, about a 2 hour drive. It has a nice slow pace but has good shopping and a beautiful downtown area, the city is also really close to some very nice towns such as Glace Bay which is famous for it's mining history and Louisbourg which is home to a beautiful 1700s French fortress.. The winters are pretty mild for Canadian standards, it rarely goes below -10. The accent spoken in Cape Breton is famous because the people speak slightly like the Scottish or Irish, the Scottish culture is very obvious here too since most of the people are of Scottish origin.

I have lived in Sydney NS all my life and I recommend it to anyone, the people are extremely friendly, the population's at about 50,000 but if you include the surrounding communities such as Glace Bay it goes up to around 100,000. Everyone's very relaxed and outgoing.. If you're looking for a more "small town" feel you should check out Glace Bay which has a population of 25,000, but it is more convenient to live in Sydney since most of the larger shopping malls and things like that are in Sydney.

Oh and it IS on the actual coast
