There are many answers. What kind of material is the canoe? A general approach would be to sand the outside hull, removing all the patches. A fiberglass/resin hull simply needs glass cloth patches and a new resin coating. An aluminum canoe needs a trip to the welding shop. Plastic canoes can usually be repaired using glass cloth and epoxy resins. Query the manufacturer.
