Any of the top Liberal Arts Colleges are excellent preparation for journalism because of the emphasis they place on reading and writing and synthesizing information.  Many of the nation's top journalists have attended the top 50 LACs.

san jose state, washington state, university of oregon if you're on the west coast those are all great schools for journalism.

Depends on where you are located adn where you may be willing to relocate to, if at all.  I know Point Park University in Pgh, PA is top ranked and affordable as well as the U of Texas as well.
