  1. This is really completely subjective, everyone's got a different "best". It's like asking what the greatest movie of all time is. A lot of people will say The Godfather, some will say Casablanca or Citizen Kane or The Shawshank Redemption. Still others will say whatever new movie they saw just last weekend and thought was really cool (*coughDarkKnightcough*)

And really, the answer to what is someone's personal favorite comic is not the same as what comics I would recommend to you. I usually like to get some background before I recommend comics. What have you already read? What sort of stories (be they comics or movies or books) do you enjoy and which do you dislike? Are there any characters you're particularly interested in? I'm pretty widely read, so I try to give people books with similar elements to things they enjoy.

The cliche answer to your question is Watchmen. Everyone and their mother says it's the greatest comic ever written. Personally, I think it's overrated for a variety of reasons, but that's just me. Surely so many people can't be wrong, right? It's tough to pick a personal best, but I will say Road to Perdition.

But beyond that, without knowing what you like, I can only list books. What're some GOOD comics? I could name hundreds I've enjoyed, but a list that long probably won't help you much. I'll break it down into groups for the time being, but I'd like to hear what you're looking for, then I can personalize some suggestions

  2. The Watchmen or V For Vendetta are interesting graphic novels[ with mature themes] .

    :0)

  3. If you have 15 bucks to spend, and you want the best read for your money, i recommend Kingdom Come by DC Comics. It is the series that made Alex Ross, and redefined how epic comic book storylines should be written. Since then, DC Comics has also put out Justice, which was also very good. Both aforementioned series include the classics, Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, and of course, all of their villains. I have read many Marvel comics and i find myself typically leaning toward DC for the better storylines, but Marvel has the wider selection of interesting characters.

  4. Watchmen and V for Vendetta are amazing, personally I like V for Vendetta better (I love the political message, it got me interested in anarchism).  And if you have enough money I recomend going and getting Watchmen Absolute Edition, it's got great extras.

If you get anything written by Alan Moore you really can't go wrong (he wrote both watchmen and v for vendetta), you can try Batman the Killing Joke (by moore) it was rated 3rd (i think) by IGN comics on a list of the best batman comics.

I also enjoy Hellblazer, great on going series. It's about an "occult detective" named John Constantine who lives in a world of magic, demons, etc.

Try the Walking Dead if you like zombies, great story.
