1. The best would be Adobe Photoshop Element 6.0. If you are really willing to spent some money than best would be Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended. This will give you everything you need to produce proffessional material though it does cost almost 10 time the Adobe Photoshop Element.

 2. Quark Express or Adobe InDesign for most things and Adobe Illustrator is excellent for single-page things. Macromedia Freehand used to be my choice as it was great for single-or multi page stuff, had great typographic controls and never caused any print problems - until the lousy bean-counters at Adobe bought it and killed it off so they could charge a higher price for Illustrator :-/

 3. I think microsoft office should do ....!!!!

 4. the pro's use quark express or adobe in-design. they are a bit tricky to learn, but you cant get better.

 5. Having worked in publishing, advertising, PR and marketing for donkey's years, I can tell you that Quark Xpress is the 'industry standard' (i.e. most printers, repro houses etc all use it so there's no problem with 'translating' documents between applications). These days, however, some people are using In-Design but I don't think it will ever overtake Quark, which is simple to use (once you've got the hang of it!)
