What is the best contrast ratio on a hdtv that will be good on ps3(please answer)?

i heard 19:1 was ok,i heard 19:10 stretches the image;i heard 700:1 was horrible......what is good?!i want to play ps3 on hd and be satisfied...im looking to spend around $300 for a 19".....and how is a 1000:1 ratio

Contrast ratio tells you how good the "blacks" are.

The larger the number the better.

These days, TVs have about 2,000:1 true contrast or better.

Don't buy a TV based just on specs, do go and compare it side by side in a store with other TVs; especially compare off-angle performance.

Sorry to say, but contrast ratio's don't really tell you that much.  Each individual company has their own way of measuring contrast ratios and there is no universal way to measure them.  For instance, a Sony can have a contrast ration of 10000:1 while a Samsung could be 5000:1 and the Samsung could look better.  Plus on a 19" TV, the contrast ratio isn't even going to matter than much because it's small.
