  7. The REAL homemade Mrs. Fields chocolate chip cookie recipe. No, the secret ingredient is not oatmeal. I'm feeling generous, so I'll let you have the recipe.

*1 cup butter, or 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup margarine

    *2 1/4 cups flour

    *1 cup brown sugar

    *1/2 cup granulated sugar

    *Two medium eggs, beaten

    *2 teaspoons vanilla extract

*12 ounces chocolate chips (I prefer Ghirardelli milk chocolate)

    *1/2 teaspoon milk

    *1/2 teaspoon water

    *1 teaspoon baking soda

    *1/2 teaspoon salt

Mix sugars and butter (or butter and margarine) in an electric mixer. Add other wet ingredients, mixing well; then mix in flour, baking soda and salt; then chocolate. I prefer to start mixing it with a wooden spoon before I use the mixer at each step, since it makes it a lot easier. Wear a plastic glove when forming golf ball-sized lumps of dough. Chill in refrigerator about a day. Set dough on ungreased baking sheet and flatten with gloved hand. Cook at 325 degrees Fahrenheit, and check about every 30 seconds after 12 minutes until done. Cookies will be very soft when taken from oven. Carefully lift with spatula and place on rack to cool.

Everyone I've given these cookies to agrees that they are the best ever. The secret ingredient, if you didn't notice, is milk.

    4 1/2 Cups of All-Purpose Flour

    1 Cup of Vegetable Shortening

    1 Egg

    1 Cup of White Sugar

    1 1/4 Teaspoon of Cinnamon

    3/4 Cup of Corn Syrup
