  1. I've been on Carnival, Royal Caribeean, and NCL. I from those three NCL has an older crowd.  Than Royal C.  I did NCL over in Hawaii 3 times.  I've done Carnival once and Royal C twice.  Hope that helps

  2. Princess or Celebrity.

  3. I have been on Princess, Celebrity, Norwegian, and Royal Caribbean ships and can vouch that they are good cruise lines for people your age. However, there are some differences among these and other cruise lines.

    - Princess, Celebrity and Holland America have great ships are more classy and reserved. Holland America has more senior citizens cruising on its ships.

-Carnival has more first time cruiser and young people (20 to 35 ageg group) who want to party, party, party. If that is what you are looking for then Carnival is the cruise line for you.

-Norwegian cruise line is good and I have been on many of their cruises. Its the line that you want to go on if you want to be informal for pretty much your whole cruise. They have formal nights like other cruise lines but they do not stress dressing up; the call it "dress up if you want to" night.  In my experience their passengers tend to be a mixture of young and middle aged people.

-Royal Caribbean caters most to families and has the most and best on-board activities. Many Royal Caribbean ships have things like ice skating, roller blade track, rock climbing wall, surfing on ship on the "Flowrider", mini-golf course, pool tables. full sized basketball courts, and adults only pool and hot tub area called 'Solarium".  You cannot go wrong with RC.

I have listed below the web sites for the medium priced cruise lines which operate from US ports. These are the cruise lines that most people use. There are some luxury lines that are much higher priced with prices starting around $4,000 for a 7 day cruise. The lines that I have listed below will have cruises starting in the range of $800 to $1,000 per person for a 7 day cruise, again depending upon the date and type cabin you select.

    CELEBRITY:

    ROYAL CARIBBEAN:

    NORWEGIAN:

    PRINCESS:

    CARNIVAL:

In my opinion Royal Caribbean and Celebrity have the easiest web sites to use to find cruises and specials.

Regardless of which cruise line you select, the things that are included are pretty much the same. The price of your cruise includes your cabin, all meals (including breakfast, lunch dinner, snacks and free room service)(you do pay to eat in the specialty restaurants), all shows and entertainment, and free use of all facilities on ship. Other than that you pay your gratuities ($10 a day per person) and for drinks.  its the same on all of these cruise lines.

  4. Really depends on what you like. Below are my top four picks, for different situations:

    1. If you want nightlife and a fun, social atmosphere....

CARNIVAL is by far the most engaging activities and lively dance clubs, casinos and bars.  Also a generally cheerful, happy atmosphere.  Entertainment is great, if sometimes mildly racy (edgy humor, PG-13 costumes). Mass market, and not always the most "polished".

    2. If you want a sporty atmosphere and/or a "polished" mass-market cruise line...

ROYAL CARIBBEAN INTERNATIONAL has lots of sporty bells and whistles on these ships: rock-climbing walls, ice skating rinks, surf simulator (on their 3 largest ships, Freedom, Liberty and Independence).  It's a mass-market line, but more "polished" than Carnival. Nightlife isn't nearly as good as Carnival, and the entertainment can be boring.

    3. If you want highly personalized, gracious service...

HOLLAND AMERICA LINE has by far the most attentive and professional service.  They also have particularly good food, very "polished" housekeeping standards, and a refined atmosphere.  If you go to Alaska (where they're the best) there will be people of all age groups, but on most of their itineraries you will probably feel young compared with many guests. Generally more expensive than the other two.

If you want super-high-end, and money is no object...

SEABOURN has small ships (more like large yachts) and an extremely high level of service and dining.  Relatively formal atmosphere in the evenings, but the ship's built-in sports marina makes for active, exciting days.  Costs 2-3x as much as the others, though.

I'm not recommending Princess because I think they're basically like RCI but with worse food and fewer bells and whistles; NCL is out because they have a bad track-record for service and food; Celebrity is out because their ships are dirty and service is lax.

That said, all cruises have a 90%+ satisfaction rate, so you really can't go wrong.

  5. In my humble opinion, that would be Princess cruise lines. Now you can move up to crystal for the top of the line, but for the average income Princess is great. I have sailed 8 times with Princess and even dealt with a medical problem which they handled beautifully. Their ships are gorgeous and well appointed and the cabins are very nice. I'm a foodie and believe there food is quite extraordinary. So that is my choice
