I am also interested in the ports that you visited. My husband and I have been on NCL twice and we really like it for the whole freestyle thing but we would like to try some others. We would love to hear from some of you that have been on several cruises.

P.S. We are younger and right now have no children.

Want to look at European / Mediterranean cruises.

  1. My wife and i like Royal Caribbean.  Beautiful boats, enormous with lots of activities. The entertainment talent was beyond my expectations. Lots of different bars, restaurants, casino, rock climbing wall, etc. Very international flavor. Deck space wasnt too hard to find, the health club was spectacular, up front on top of the boat.  Food was excellent. We stopped at San Juan, St Martens, St Johns and Nassau. Did snorkling which was ok, Hawaii was better. We're going again this year.

  2. Seabourn.  Small ships (only about 208 passengers), all outside cabins with huge picture windows.  All inclusive (all drinks, all tips included).  Open seating; you dine when and with whom you wish at meals.  The service is incredible.  They fall all over you to make you feel welcome.

More like being on someone's divine yacht than a cruise ship.

  3. Disney.  Even though you don't have kids yet, it's the best hands down.  There are areas throughout the ship that are adults only.  Best cruiseline hands down

  4. Well, the best cruise really depends on what you like. =)

If you want a younger crowd take a shorter cruise rather than a longer one.  (Retired don't have to worry about time off.)  Less expensive cruises will also tend to have a younger crowd.

I went on a Med cruise in November and it was cheaper, and younger, than during the summer, but COLD.

In terms of which specific cruise line...

Princess will have big ships, which will give you lots of choice.  I'm not a big fan of their food, personally.  I'd go with RCI if you can get on one of RCI's newer ships.

RCI is all about "sporty" and "activity" especially on their newer ships.  Those are also big ships, so you'll have a range of restaurants - though not as many as NCL, they will be better quality. I'm a fan.

Carnival is now doing Europe and is all about nightlife, entertainment, fun and the social experience.  I really like Carnival for the happy, fun atmosphere (RCI is less social, and their nightlife sucks).  It also tends to be a younger group.

Holland America Line is great for service, a refined atmosphere and great enrichment programs.  Food is awesome. Generally longer cruises, though and an older crowd.

Celebrity has beautiful ships and great food.  Housekeeping and service are a little lax, but compared with NCL you'd be pretty happy.  Same price tier as Holland America Line.

Oceania (which I went on in November) has small ships (around 800 people) and phenomenal food, but it's really expensive for what you get, and the service isn't all that.

Anyway, I hope that helps. You should also want to check out the "Choosing a Cruise" guide...

  5. i would defintely go with ncl i have been on one so far and it was a blast it was a great experinse and i loved it so much im going on a nother one next week if you do go with ncl would highly recomend you go on the majesty for a smaller cruise if your a big fan of a bigger crowd go with the sun.

if you like going for food and a more relaxed atmospher try celebertiy i also have been on celebirty twice (zenith and century) and found that the food and service was excelent.

if you like a young and always up to partying kind of crowd go with carnivel  i have only been on carnivel once (imagination) and was a blast i wasnt happy with the food and the service though.

If you do decide to go have a great time!!!!!!!!!!

  6. I too like NCL for the layout of the ships, the crew & FREESTYLING cruise.

Have also been on Princess the ships seems lacking for space in some areas. Food was good & service.

Have been on Holland where food & service was first class all the way.

Have been on 22 cruises all to Alaska. Love the scenery, wildlife, open space and the people.

Everyone has their own taste & looking for different things on each ship. You stick with what you like.

    Enjoy.

  7. I loved my royal carribean cruise. Excellent service & good food

I've heard that carnival has a nice new ship and they have a good night life
