  1. It sounds like you want a cruise without many kids on board.  If that is the case then your best choices are Holland America, Celebrity, Princess, and Royal Caribbean.  And pretty much in that order.  Holland America is a great line with great ships, food and service.  They generally cater to the older travelers so almost all of the passengers will be retired folks, 50's and above.  They cost a little more; you get what you pay for, so folks with kids don't want to pay that extra.  Celebrity is also a line that does not have a lot of kids, in part because it is priced just a little above some other lines.

We went to Alaska on Princess and they have great ships, staffs and food.  We went in May and there were very few kids on board.  Princess also tends to cater to a more mature crowd.  If you plan to go in May or Sept the prices will be slightly less and you are less likely to have kids on board as they are in school.  But there will be some exceptions.

Royal Caribbean is a good line to go on and it, along with Holland America and Princess, does a cruise-tour where you have the opportunity to see more of Alaska.  We took the Princess cruise tour and had a days to sightsee in Anchorage after our cruise and then took a  train up to Denali National Park and spent a night.  Then took the train on to Fairbanks.  RC, HA, and Princess all have special train cars for their tours.  Food is included.  It a better way to see more Alaska and I do recommend the cruise tour.

  2. Everyone has their favorite. That is why we have choices. I have been on 20 cruises to Alaska. For just a 7 day cruise I would take Norwegian unless you want first class then take Holland. If you are going on a cruisetour then Princess as they put you up in 5 star lodges. All lines on either inside or outer  cruise stop in many of the same ports and all will take you to see the Glaciers. All have many things of interest for all to do on the ship and all offer great excursions in ports of call. Visit their sites and find one that suits your needs. If you belong to AAA stop in they have a travel center that can set you with a cruise & flights and save you money. Which ever line you take you will see sites that will amaze you and meet people from all over. Enjoy.

  3. I'm not sure you'll have a lot of choices on cruise ships to Alaska, but I've been on a few cruises, different lines, and they all seem to be about the same.  However, I've found some great deals on iBtraveling.com where you can compare a bunch of travel sites to find the best deal.  Just remember to restart your computer after you enter your credit card and personal information, just to make sure your computer is safe.   Wish you luck there!  Have fun!
