What is the best cruise ship out of New York?

I have two teenage daughter's 16 and 19 and was wondering if anyone here has ever taken a cruise out of New York. I have read some reviews, but they are conflicting. Thanks in advance.

The Norwegian Spirit leaves out of Manhattan, NY but only during this season.  You may have read conflictions reviews about the Norwegian cruise line.  I think people who are looking to have a perfect cruise, everything going their way, nothing going wrong at all. That is not what is going to happen, and is not what you are to anticipate.  The cruise is not designed for you in particular, it's designed for ALL of the guests onboard as a whole. If "freestyle dining" is not what you're looking for, then Norwegian cruise line is not for you and you should KNOW that ahead of time, so you will then decide not to book the cruise. Your cruise is what you make it- if you're making a big deal about every little thing you're not going to have a fun cruise. If you relax(that's what a cruise is about) you're going to have an awesome cruise on Norwegian. I strongly reccomend it, and it's perfect for you and your teenager daughters.

The Explorer of the Seas is awesome! Not to mention the itinerary is fabulous, especially with 16 and 19 year olds.  Onboard there are a ton of things for people of all ages.  Ice skating, rock climbing wall, mini golf, pools, etc.  They would have a blast.  The promenade rooms are some of the least expensive rooms and are amazing, definitely check them out.
