  1. Injections of corticosteroid drugs directly into a keloid may reduce itchiness and cause some shrinkage.They do tend to flatten down themselves in time.Surgical removal is of little use since the new scar that forms is almost always a keloid.

    For those who don't know..A keloid is a raised, hard, irregularly shaped itchy scar on the skin.

  3. For cosmetic refinement, you can get a gel product called Dermatix. We sold this in a Clinic I used to work in, but you can get it now from the Chemist. You apply a thin layer over the scar and it tightens slightly, gradually flattening it. It does take a little time, but is the best solution. Microdermabrasion is a possiblity, but if you're prone to keloids because of skin type or homones, then this may not be possible.
