What is the best day of the week to have a bbq?

hmmm, well. there will be a lot of people.. and i am visiting my home town and just wanted to bring everyone together at once..

I would say Saturday, from 3pm to dark (or later, if you can have a bonfire, too!)  That way, families with kids can get them rested before they come.

how about 3:30pm to 7 or 8pm sometimes people have to work on saturday mornings, and if you have the bbq too late people might not attend because of sunday being a church day.  basically if i was going to have a bbq I would shoot for that, more convieneint for everyone.

I like Sunday bbqs, late afternoon. Forces people to relax and enjoy the last part of the weekend. Plus, it's no problem getting people to leave on-time...not like a Fri or Sat bbq that can stretch into an all-nighter. Of course if you want a longer all-night affair, Fri & Sat is the way to go.

we have them on saturdays starting at 1 or 2 so we can play horseshoes or washers and drink and talk, then eat at like 3 or 4 and hang out then drink somemore and talk or play beer pong or somthing.

Definitely Saturday afternoon.  Maybe starting about 1 p.m. until whenever people get tired and leave.  (Or when you start cleaning up as a gentle hint!)  Friday is the end of the workweek, and you can't get too tipsy on Sunday afternoons.  Saturday is perfect.
