What is the best digital camera?

Question

I plan to use it for my digital art class next year, and for personal purposes. I am searching for something that is designed well, has 8 or more megapixels, and is user friendly.

I use Canon PowerShot SD850 IS 8.0 MP Digital Elph Camera with 4x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom. Very nice.

As you are looking for 8 mpixels and more ,look for more optical zoom too may be 5x Optical and more.

I dont know  what is your actual purpose, if you are going for

professional photography go for SLR digital.(but its expensive)

The canon cybershot is a great camera for family photos, great little thing to throw in a glovebox. generally as a second camera. I have one and its a great little throw-around.  

Generally though, the cybershots are limited due to the inability to thoroughly change settings. You certainly cant do high definition photography with one.

If you plan on going pro, look at the Nikon SLR's.

And don't just think that the more megapixels the better. Look at all other componenets.
