  1. Canidae

    Nutro

    Avoderm

I don't think science diet is very good.

  2. Canidae read the ingredient list and then maybe think about allergies rather than just dry skin. You could just do an elimination diet to find out if things improve if you have him just on fish then in two weeks add in some millet or other thing such as oatmeal feed that for a while then add in vegtables one at a time( omit onions and garlic as well as spices). This will tell you if you are on he right track.

  3. We actually feed Eagle Pack Holistic for skin issues.  It seems more expensive at first, but because it is not full of fillers, the daily amount is much less than most dog foods.  Since we have had our lab mix on it for about 18 months, he has had absolutely no issues, took about 2 months for them to disappear.  No vet trips for extras because of the skin problems either.

You can find a vendor online at http://www.eaglepack.com/retailer_search...

Good luck with your pup no matter what you decide!

  4. Two of my dogs had skin problems when I fed Science Diet.  Upon recommendation by a show dog groomer, I switched to Canidae chicken and rice and neither dog has had any problems in almost 2 years - no more yeast infections in the ears either.

Their coats are glossy and skin great - Canidae makes a big difference, no corn meal, real nutrition for dogs.

    I sure recommend it.

  5. Nutro is haveing issues Dont buy it .

  6. Ask your vet. I have heard good things about Avoderm, though. I am not sure if you mean the Science Diet that is from the vet or the one that is available everywhere. The regular one is not very good for dogs.Canidae is a good food, not sure for allergies. Same for Nutro as Science Diet.

  7. I'd go with Avoderm or Canidae.  Definitely not Science Diet, and Nutro only if it's Natural Choice Lamb and Rice.

  8. shar pei dogs have a lot of skin and allergy issues.

consider supplementing you dog with omega 3 oils:buy this at the heath food store(people take this too)

don't buy the biggest capsules, it may give diarrhoea to the dog:buy the children's size:500mg oil

another oil that's great(from a plant source):evening primrose oil, get the smaller size:500mg capsules

Wellness makes good food for allergies, look on their website!maybe they deliver?or go to a really big pet store:petsmart?

I use Wellness CORE for one dog

My other dog eats:Natural Balance sweet potato and fish

    i have the package here:www.naturalbalance.net

allergic dogs need to be fed for a trial period of 6-8weeks one particular food, to see any improvement.

If no improvement, switch diets:8weeks trial again!

  9. Either Avoderm or Canidae. What ever you do don't feed the Nutro or Science Diet they are very low quality foods and will cause the skin problems to get worse. Both Nutro & Science Diet are made in China. Those foods killed dogs in the recall including my own. I used to feed Nutro and truly belived it killed 2 of my dogs. You should also look into getting either Wellness Fish & sweet potato. and Merrick's "Wilderness Blend" or the "Campfire Cookout".
