Colorado's Educator Licensing Program

Provisional License

Issued upon Completion of an approved preparation program or an alternative teacher program.

Demonstration of proficiencies.

Entitles the holder to perform services in any public school in Colorado offering an approved induction program and is the standard entry-level license in Colorado.

To move to a Professional License, the following requirements must have been met:

Successful completion of an approved induction program and recommendation by the district providing the induction program for the professional license.

Successful completion of the State Board adopted performance assessments.

Filing a complete application for the Professional License.

The Provisional license may be renewed once if the above requirements are not met within the three year time frame of the first Provisional license.

Professional License

Valid for five years and renewable.
