...show to a newbie who didn't actually like the movie? I only own seasons 5, 8, and 9 to choose from, and one DVD of season 2 containing the episodes "One False Step", "Show and Tell", "1969" and "Out of Mind".

Suggestions?

  1. Wow, I am afraid that I can't just give an one episode answer, because there is so much to choose from. Here is some of the episodes I really love though:

    - Window of Opportunity - It is such a funny episode. I love Jack's antics all through it. I warn you that a side affect of this episode is being unable to stomach oatmeal.

    - Paridise Lost - Jack and Maybourne stuck on a planet together is pure bliss...but only for everyone watching. It is so funny to see those two stuck together because they truly HATE each other!

    - Cold Lazarus - One of the saddest episodes of Stargate there is. It gives a lot of insight into Jack's life before joining SG1 and it's a great step for the character to finally get over something a parent should NEVER EVER go through.

    - Abyss - This is such an intense episode, I LOVE the Jack/Daniel interaction in this episode, and the acting is so amazing.

    - Zero Hour - Another really good Jack episode. I found that I appreciated Hammond a lot more during this episode even though he isn't actually in it. It's the first episode where you get to see what it is like from the other side of the 'gate room glass'.

That's about all I can think of at the moment, but I love all of the episodes with any team bonding or the character episodes (ESPECIALLY the Jack ones) Finally, I would reccommend Continuum, it has only recently come out here and it is a really good movie.

    Hope this helps. ^^

PS: You don't necessarily have to watch the original movie or CotG to appreciate the show. I started from The Enemy Within and I still don't have all the episodes, and I am probebly the biggest hard core fan there is. ;-)

  2. Honestly, you need episode 1 in Season 1, the show, although not completely different to the movie, was originaslly designed to be more than an hour and a half's entertainment. But be careful, if they like it, you'll need all 10 Seasons...lol

  3. Ok best Stargate SG-1 , that is a hard one.

Well first off Yes, window of opportunity

There is also Holiday and 1969 in season two

so many to mention , they are all really good.

  4. For season five Failsafe would be the best, then The Fifth Man, 48 Hours or The Warrior.

For season eight Zero Hour would be the best, then Avatar, It's Good To Be King, Gemini or Sacrifices. The episodes at the end of the season wouldn't be good, because they resolve various storylines and I don't suggest Citizen Joe, which I found to be just plain weird.

For season nine Camelot would be the best, then Babylon, The Powers That Be (if you want to show the newbie an episode with Vala, if not this wouldn't be the best to watch), Prototype, Ripple Effect or Arthur's Mantle.

    Hope this helps!

  5. Window of Opportunity (Season 4, Episode 6)

One of the best.  The plot device: a time loop.  The two people stuck inside of it who know what's going on: Jack and Teal'c.

Hilarity ensues.  And I do mean that it is hilarious!

  6. The best episode from season five would be...Fail Safe. Combines all the elements of the Stargate SG-1 episode: they go on a mission, get in trouble, figure out the resolution, save Planet Earth yet again. Plus, there's humor, terrific special effects, and lovely music.

From season eight, I'd pick...oh, tough one. Citizen Joe is sort of recap of SG1 since season one, so I don't know if that would be too confusing to a new fan. Avatar is wonderful, but part of its charm is knowing the characters after watching for so many years. I'd say then, Zero Hour, because again, it has all the elements of a typical SG1 episode.

From the season 2 disc, I'd pick 1969.
