Has anyone ever had a particular dish, snack or drink from an ethnic cuisine which you thought was one of the most delicious things you've ever had?

If so, was it homemade (by yourself or someone else)...or was it something you ordered in a restaurant? And did you ever get the opportunity to have it again?

For me, years ago when I was in high school I had a Spanish paella rice at a restaurant...and it was amazing.

  8. The two most delicious ethnic meals I have had were:

Ethiopian, from a restaurant... mm.. so good! Traditionally cooked and presented. I went to that restaurant several times actually.

Salvadorean - Papusa!! Hooray! That was awesome too. Cooked at a little stall at a market by a Salvadorean family.

  9. mexican beef fahitas are mmmm!

I love home made tamalies (hand rolled in corn husks)

I like american indian fry bread with beans and all the fixens on top

my mother in law is SaudiArabian.. she makes a traditional wheat berry and meat paste for Ramadan which is called harees.. it looks nasty when you first see it, but once you start in, you cant stop.. its really tasty..

  10. I would have to say that I have had some great Ethiopean food (at a restaurant), the injera bread is great, so are the beans/lentils. Very healthy too. Try it sometime!

  11. My best was a large bowl of Korean soup that was served with little dishes of things like kim chee and bean sprouts that I could add to it.  I also like Vietnamese pho soup, which is served in a similar manner.

  12. TIE

Catered Chinese food in Chinatown in NY...

    Authentic Mexican in Juarez

  13. Ravioli. Cooked by my Mum.

  14. My favorite would have to be Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese. I usually have them order, but I do cook at home too. All taste great. =D

I would have to say that Korean was my worst experience so far. Their taste is very "unique" and not to my liking at all.

  15. I like food from so many countries, but in Thailand (in Hua Hin) I had Hor Mok Talaay for the first time (Steamed seafood curry in a young coconut).  This was unbelievably awesome and was a stand out dish for me.  I sometimes make it but in banana leaf cups instead of in the coconut.  The other thing I really liked was Martabak (an Indian or Malaysian style vegetarian sort of stuffed pancake).  This was made by an Indian woman in Chiang Mai, Thailand, not far from the Tha Phae gate.  Unfortunately when I returned to Chiang Mai the next time the lady was no longer there and I have never had another one of these as good again.

  16. Oh my where do I begin

Pupusas- a classmate made onetime, no recipe so I couldnt re create it.

Super spicy beef curry that I order at an asian fusion joint.

lumpia-filipino eggroll and I have the recipe to make it but havent yet

my aunts mole but she wont give up the recipe so I have to settle for visiting her and bugging her to make it for me.

  17. Honey Duck and Thai iced tea at an amazing Thai restaurant.  I'll never forget it.

  18. Well seeing how all food is "ethnic" since all food reciepes originated from one ethnicity or another I would have to say New York style cheescake however, if you are speaking of cultural foods then I would have to say Ethiopian. When I was in D.C. I ate at Zed's they have this lovely chicken dish & sopping it up with the injera (a sour tasting flat bread native to Ethiopia)  instead of a fork or spoon was really fun.

  19. Southern Indian cooking - mmmm, good!  Why? It reminds me of the spicy yet wholesome Creole food from N'awlins I was raised on!

  20. pad thai and fried bananas with ube ice cream is my favorite meal ever.
