What is the best excercise routine to follow at age 26?

I have not done aerobic excercises for a long time. Anyone have a suggestion or two of how to get in the routine of excersising. I want to join a gym, so I guess this question revolves around the gym, and outside the gym as well.

  1. Sign up for a gym membership or buy your own and devote 1 hour before you go to work or after you come home about 3 times a week to work out. I have been doing that for many years.
