Question:

What is the best feeder for foals?

I bought one of the feeders with the adjustable bars and it isn't working well at all. First mom was getting her nose in and now she has sores on the side of her nose. Then I moved one bar over and the foal can't fit his nose in far enough to eat. Now mom has tried so hard to get the grain she's knocked it off the wall. Is they're any other type of feeder for foals?

  1. If they were outside you could get a calf creep so only the foal could get in but the mare couldnt.

Is it something for inside your looking for?

Is this similar to what you already have?

  2. I have the same problem! I spent 40 bucks on a feeder that either she gets into, or he cant get into, and my mare also pulled it from the fence.  How old is your foal? What I do now when I am feeding at least, is tie my mare in one half of the stall to eat, and put my colts bucket in the other half where she cant reach it.  Good luck!

  3. other than feeding the foal separate with the mom tied somewhere else in the stall   I don't know of anything better than what you have....are you feeding the mom also so she is not starved???just piggy????
