What is the best fighting style for me? I am pretty big almost 6 foot and around 230 lbs.?

I am 15 and almost 6 foot and around 230 pounds. I lift wieghts regularly and I play footbal. I want to know what the best fighting style is for me. I have a partner that wants to learn with me if that helps.

    However ONLY MMA is effective!

  9. If you want to do competitions and stuff, i'd suggest something like judo or brazillian jiu-jitsu for someone of your build, these are both throwing/grappling sports. Boxing or kickboxing is pretty good too, but it depends on how fast you are. The martial art I do is called krav maga, it's purely a self defence art that incorporates muay thai, boxing, kick boxing, brazilian jiu jitsu, sooo much stuff, but there are no competitions (mostly because the strikes are too damaging) and size isn't really an issue, i'm 6 foot 3 inches and 167lbs and i practise with a guy who's about your height but 240lbs and do fine, it's all about technique. So if you want to do something that will use your size best do something like judo, wrestling or brazillian jiu-jitsu, if you want to be able to handle yourself on the street try krav maga.

    Muay Thai is power. Savate is speed.

    i can't say grappling is good because generally guys with longer limbs are easier to submit but you can give it a shot

    if your still in high school which being 15 i would assume you are, look into wrestling on your high school team, even if your JV for a while it will teach you ways to take people down to the ground and keep them there

    gives you a thumbs up if you ever choose to look into MMA or something like Militich fighting system which bases itself on effective ground and pound scenarios

  11. For now wrestle.  Stay focused on that because it can land you a College Scholarship if football doesn't work out, plus it will help your tackling and balance.

    After HS, look into jujitsu or MMA.  You'll be terrifying.
