  1. The best style is whatever works.

Are you interested in looking cool or in self defence?

Most military units teach a blend of techniques.

I think Tai Chi is also a very good martial arts style.

It looks funky to practice and people do not regard it as a fighting style, but it builds strength and gives you the moves.

It only looks like slow motion until you get the moves down and then speed them up to real life.

Tai Chi also has the advantage of being very low cost and easy on the body, and you can practice it anywhere, at any time.

  2. MMA, what else?

  3. So you want Looks cool + effective. Tae Kwon Do!

  4. I am not sure what one is the best. However if you want one that looks cool, has quick results and is very deadly I suggest white eyebrow.

  5. why? why do you wanna do something that looks cool but not very effective? i mean think about it, if you get into a fight one on one with a bunch of chicks around you,and the one you learned is those flashy kicks and punches (TKD) that hardly works vs something that is very effective like BJJ/MMA, guesse who will get embarssed? exspecially if you brag about your martial arts.

  6. I'd say the most useful martial art would be a combination of Wing Chun and Jiu Jitsu. Wing Chun is a deadly, simple standing martial art. Jiu Jitsu is a ground based martial art, so you'd be covered wether on your feet or brawlin' on the ground.

  7. Looks really cool?  Try Tae Kwon Do - the high kicks do look good and stretch thighs for better lower kicks. As for real fighting styles-Shotokan will take a couple years for basics but you may find using the drills in a real fight not so good 1/2 the time- the other 1/2 the time you'll end fight quick with opponent unconscious or with broken bones. Chinese/Okinawan Shorei-Ryu taught hard basics with few flashy moves at beginning- the Hiza-Geri high knee to ribs does work in street fight, is similar to the MuayThai close in kicks. Spinning back kick to groin does tend to leave people moaning on ground. Judo will teach close in work and contact, throws and submission holds while trying to keep training injuries down. Basic Boxing will give a fair start for defense fighting- just lacks tatami and leg training. How old are you and what kind of body do you have- tall people often like the high kicking Korean style while a short , stocky person may find the combination of Judo with Okinawan school quite effective in street fight.

  8. Boxing would be a great start. If you were to get into a street fight you probably wouldn't be looking for an armbar or kimora such as in BJJ. That said, you can't go wrong with a solid standup boxing foundation.

From there you can move on to more technical fighting styles such as BJJ, Muay Thai, or Judo. I say this because it's the path I plan to take in college next year. (Muay Thai goes with longer bodies but I have a small frame (5'5") so I probably won't head that way.)

  9. There is no such thing as a best style. There are some styles that I personally find more effective.

    Kajukenbo

    Won hop kuen do

    Danzan ryu jujitsu

    CHA 3 kenpo

    Jeet kune do

    Muay thai

Kali / Escrima / Arnis / Pentjak silat

    Wing chun

    Kyokushin karate

  10. it depends on where you want do your fighting and defending, on the street or in the ring. if in the street i recommend MMA and Chin Na Kung Fu ,  the latter especially if your in law enforcement. Fighting in the ring or cage i recommend mix martial arts and Kick boxing. if you learn a traditional martial art Like karate or kung fu make sure they teach sparring and self defense and not just forms or katas.

  11. muay thai is 1 of the cool, fatal and deadly fighting style. It can cause your emeny bleak the bones and injuire them badly
