  1. I've had GREAT luck with Amdro.  Just sprinkle it around the hole and they start to bring it inside.  You might have to revisit later in the day and give them more, and check on it the next day.  Works great.  I got rid of 10 really large mounds with just one carton.  I got it at Home Depot.

Go to Ace Hardware or Home Depot and get their bags of granulated fire ant killer.  I can't remember the exact brand name but have used it a number of times.  There is one that once it is opened the bottom has a handle on it like a shopping bag and when opened the top has a mesh net that allows the granules to be sprinkled instead of poured when holding upside down.  It is great.  

  3. Having lived in Florida for 11 years, I can tell you that the ants will just move. I found that Grits, right out of the container worked well. Just sprinkle on all the mounds. Lots cheaper too.
