  1. never caught a sturgeon but, I would use green line in green or brown water and clear line in anything else. I would also use big game trilene 15 pound test on my reel and a 10 pound spider wire leader of 5 feet also.

  2. No, not Stren 80!  SpiderWire is super strong and very thin!

  3. Fireline!!!

www.cableas.com search on fireline - very reasonable prices too

  4. I prefer Trilene xt, sturgeon?  I would use 35 Lb line.

  5. regular 20# test or lower. Set your drag fairly light and expect to spend a while reeling the fish in enough to release it.

I don't know where you are on the river but I know almost everywhere in Alberta is catch and release for sturgeon.

With the lighter line you are more likely to get a bite.

  6. Stren 80

  7. We fish sturgies all the time in the Delta in central CA, and we use the power pro also. It's less expensive than spider wire but in my opinion every bit as strong. Depending how big they get like above mentioned 50lb works killer

  8. i like fireline that stuff doesn't break i usually fish for walleye and northern pike and i use 8 lb. test  your gonna fish for something way bigger  you gonna need around 30 40 test. trilene and stren is a mono line and it is like a rubber band it stretches to much for my liking just have to set your drag a little looser and be ready to fight the fish for a while i work in a bait shop and we have a pick of four guys that cought a 1000 lb sturgeon no lie four hours of reeling in shifts while goin through two cases of beer

  9. Power Pro, 50lb. This may help a little
