In your opinion, what is the best font to use for a resume?

I know for a PowerPoint I have always attempted to stick with sans-serif family fonts because I always thought them easier to read.

However, I wrote a resume and was advised to alter my chosen "calibri" to a serif family font.

  1. anything basic is fine, make sure its not hard to read, other than that, it's personal preference

  2. I like Garamond. Easily Readable, but with a bit of style.

  3. Actually, it's better to stick with a serif font, like Times or Times New Roman. The eye actually uses the little marks on the serif fonts as a way to gather the "shape" of the word. We then associate that shape with the word.

To make certain thing stand out, such as you name or a category (as in Education, References, etc.) use the sans-serif font. The viewers eye will catch onto the differentiation and make those section stand out, therefore making you stand out. The two kinds of fonts, when used properly, make for a dynamic and professional looking resume.
