  1. You definitely need something to keep from slipping. Deck shoes are good, I like sneakers when the weather is cool and barefeet when warmer. It is not reccommended to go barefoot because of all the things to catch your toes on. On my boat I am used to it. Socks are out. Too slippery. Water socks are ok but hot. I wear sandals all the time from spring to fall but generally take them off on my boat but not friends boats. Flip flops are out. To easy to lose one(I did on the Chesapeake and Deleware Canal where the current was 5 knots) Street shoes are out because they mark the boat and are too slippery.

  2. Van's- closest things to deck shoes & you won't slip.

  3. Crocs brand shoes: these flip-flop type shoes are completely water resistant, moisture exhorbant, have excellent grip, are very flexible and comfortable, very tough/long-lasting, very easy to clean (don't need to be washed) and can be worn as comfortably without socks as normal shoes are with socks...and they are not expensive.

I did a report on this product for my marketing class in graduate school and can safely say they are true outdoorsman's shoes that are unlike anything else on the market.
