What is the best form of sending money to Sweden ?

My family in New York plans on sending us money as a wedding present & since they tried sending us checks a couple of years back which of course is not widely used here in Sweden much meant me sending the checks back , so I was wondering what would be the best form of sending money to us here in Sweden ? Money orders ? What ? Any help would be greatly appricated

When I lived in Sweden, my family in the US tried many ways of sending me money. Checks are impossible, as you know. Money orders are not a good idea either because they are difficult to cash, unless you have your relative get a cashier's check from the bank, but have them convert and print directly into SEK (swedish crowns) onto the check. Not many banks offer that type of service though.

I found it much easier to either use Western Union because there are locations all over the place.

Or if you trust your family in the US with your bank account info then you can have them transfer bank to bank. It takes a little longer though.

The nice thing about the last two options is that it is pretty safe to get your money and that the currency will automatically be converted into SEK apon receipt.

Check if "Western Union" is there, there should be though...

its the fastest way i encountered... 5-10 minutes..
