Hello

I have a minDV Camera and it takes 18gig per complete tape - im coming to the end of my hard disc life. I use sony vegas to edit the software and tend to put the best stuff on DVD.

Ive never really known what the best format to render the files as.

The native files make my computer run slowly due to their size - but i want the best quality for transfer to DVD.

Is there any advice you guys can give?

  1. RobbieM82 is correct - let the software take care of it for you.

If you are running out of hard drive space, get an external.

  2. When you're rendering out a edited project in any mainstream software app you only need to select the relative output tab for that medium - eg: "Make DVD"  - and the software will do the job.

However, standard definition DVD requires MPEG-2. That is the default standard for DVD (std def, that is, not hi-def)
