What is the best game to play on a pool table?

You can get a complete listing of pocket billiard games from the BCA rulebook or you can get the most commonly played games from the BCA website.  My personal opinion is that straight pool (14.1 Continuous) is the best overall test of pocket billiards skill.  Look into it.  It's extremely challenging.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

I tend to enjoy 9 ball the most. Not only is it easy to play, but it improves your game by forcing you to take shots you would never consider taking in a regular game of 8 ball.

If you have a large group of people, you should play Knockout. For easy explanation of the rules, lets say you have 5 players:

1) Players are assigned certain balls on the table (player 1 has balls 1-3, player 2 has balls 4-6, etc).

2) Following normal rules of pool, players try to sink all the opponents balls. When only one player has at least 1 ball on the table, that player wins.

3) Any time a player scratches, one ball for each other player is brought back onto the table. For example, if player one scrathes and player 2 has lost the 4 ball and player 3 all three of his (7,8 and 9), you pull the 4 and 7 back onto the table, which means player 3 is back in the game.
