I have some older out board motors 1969-75 10hp to 20hp what is the best gas to use in them. I herd you should use a higher octane is this correct. Is there any thing to add to the gas?

  1. Unless those are high-compression motors (which I don't know of any), premium gas is just a waste of money.  The only thing the extra octane does is reduce the volatility of the gasoline, to prevent pre-ignition.

  2. Back in 1973 I liked Amoco 100 octane.  But it was unleaded, so I started using a lead additive.  I agree that higher octane works better, but now I use sea foam.  In the end, it's up to you.  Good Luck!

  3. I always use premium in small engines.

  4. regular fresh gas

  5. Any gas will work on the small 1s> tcw 3 oil>
