Before I tack the runner to the stairs, I am going to glue it to the stairs. Any suggestions as to which type of glue is best to use for this purpose?

  1. You only have to staple it down, not glue it...

  2. Use double sided carpet tape. Then, when you want to change the worn carpet, you will not have ugly glue residue to deal with.

  3. most installers will use an electric stapler and will just staple around the edges of the runner on the actual step....although I have never glued down carpet on steps I see nothing wrong with it.......they make a lot of different brands of carpet glue......I would just get one that is especially made for carpet and has a super grip quality....the max grip is kind of pricey though.....instead of going to a store like Lowes, you can more likely find a kind like that at a local flooring store....
