  1. It's a simple question but there is no simple answer.  It's true that you hit some club that you can hit well.  some older folks and many women will not generate sufficient club head speed to get a driver up in the air enough to get good distance.  Many folks in this category have much better luck with a 3 wood off the tee.

Assuming you hit the driver reasonably well then the answer depends upon the hole you are playing and the strategy you need to take advantage of the way the course designer laid out the course.  Usually there is a reasonably wide landing zone some distance down the fairway.  If you try to hit it further you may have the fairway necking down or some form of hazard coming into play.  In this case you take the club that is best to reach this preferred landing zone.

Other times, on a short par 4 for example, you may choose your club simply to put you in the best position for your next shot.  If you don't hit half wedges well then maybe you hit less club off the tee and set yourself up for a full wedge into the green.

Some holes will play best if you can approach the green from one side of the fairway or the other.  If, for example, you fade your driver but you need to position yourself on the left side of the fairway maybe you want to hit a three wood to the proper position because you can hit the 3 wood a little straighter.

Forced carries require you to first choose a club that will carry the hazard.  Secondly, figure out where you want the ball to be positioned.

Some doglegs will force you to have a long carry over some sort of trouble but then, since the fairway is turning , the width of the fairway in the landing zone may be narrow.  this could force you to carry the dog leg with a three wood and have it settle quickly after impact rather than hit a driver over the hazard but have it run through the fairway and into trouble on the other side.

Simply put, there is no single best answer.  Figure out the best way to play each hole and let that dictate your club selection.

  2. Do you mean: A tee, a small wooden device to hold a ball; or The Tee, a section of short grass used at the starting point of a Hole?

  3. It would matter on what par is your hole. Naturally, if it was a par 4/5, you would use a #1 wood but for par 3, you should use what you can hit near the pin. I prefer a club that can hit around 150 yards but it's your decision.

  4. You should use a tee on every tee box. hence the name tee box. it is hardest to hit a driver without a tee

  5. which ever club you hit the best with ... if you can hit straight and long, that's the one you use.

well, on long holes ( par 4 /5 ), the ideal club would be the driver. on par 3, the yardage would dictate the club selecrtion.

  6. your driver.

  7. Use your no. 1 wood.
