  1. Taboo, located in the Muskokas of Ontario

the offical home course of Mike Weir

    Marshes located in Ottawa, Ontario

  2. Arrowhead just outside of denver jaw-dropping landscape not a terribly tough course but i have never broke 90 there.

  3. St Andrews old course....  Went there with a buddy and we had no tee time and no place to stay. Planned on taking pictures of the old course and maybe play the others.  Our first break was we ended up with a bed and breakfast room 100 yards from the first tee that someone canceled out of.

The next morning (Saturday) we were at the course at sunrise to take pictures. While standing next to the car, the starter came by and said we could play as long as we could stay in front of the first group that would tee off in about 20 minutes.

No problem!!!! ... and it was great!!!  Sunday morning we did the same thing and the same starter came by and laughed because we were back again..... then he let us tee off..... It may not be the best course, but it's a great course and the highlight of my golfing experience.

Shot 77 the first day and 73 the second day.

  4. Tralee in Ireland, shot 76 in a tournament.  2nd fav was the old course at Ballybunion also in IRE, shot 80 though!?!

  5. Royal County Down

    Pine Valley

    Los Angeles Country Club

    Royal Birkdale

    and

    Olympic Club

  6. My top two from experience:

Falcon Ridge Golf Course - Cedar Grove, TN

The Brae at Heatherhurst CC - Crossville, TN

I used to play FRGC regularly as I lived in the area.  My best score there is a 92.

I played the Brae for the first time last week.  I shot a 105.  Not my best golf by any means, but it is a challenging course and the weather was not it's friendliest.

  7. Some good ones I've played:

    Finkbine in Iowa City, IA

    The Summit, Cannon Falls, MN

    Koronis Hills, Paynesville, MN

    Willow Run, Sioux Falls, SD

  8. Spanish Bay in Monterey and The Sanctuary Denver...also Hawk Tree in Bismarck ND was a real surprise...ranked nationally even...in Bismarck??? What the heck.

Spanish Bay I knocked out a deer with a 3 wood from 30 yards away LOL...it stumbled off wounded but ok.  I was laughing so hard!  Trying to hit 215 shot....and hit a deer.  What a memory.

  9. There's a brutally tough, but outrageously beautiful seaside course south of L.A. called Trump National Los Angeles, in Rancho Palos Verdes.  It was designed by Pete Dye and orginally called Ocean Trails.

It was originally designed to be a generous, player-friendly links-type layout, clocking in at around 6,850 yards.

Donald Trump bought it and, in hopes of luring the USGA there for a U.S. Open, had it redesigned and lengthened.  It is now a brute of a course at 7,350 yards, with narrow, undulating fairways, wildly undulated and sloping greens, canyons and hazards everywhere, with several forced carries.

The two finishing holes may very well be the toughest in all of golf...anywhere.  They play along a cliff-top, immediately overlooking the mighty Pacific Ocean, and into the prevailing ocean winds, which tend to slide right up the cliffs and buffet the wide open course.

The par 3 17th is 237 yards from the tips.  Again, into the wind.  And the par 4 18th clocks in at 510 yards, into the wind.

Although this course is a nightmare to play....it would kick even Tiger Woods' rear...it is very gorgeous, with unbelievable vistas of the Pacific and Santa Catalina Island, and it is kept in immaculate condition.  I think rounds now go for $300.00.

I won't tell you what I shot.  It wasn't pretty.

  10. I was able to play Inverness in Toledo, OH.  I believe it has held a total of 5 majors (4 US Opens and 1 PGA).

    I'm a 3 handicap and I shot 90.  I was just in awe of where I was.

    Great Golf Course.  Played horribly.

  11. turner hill in massachusetts

  12. Pinion Hills Farmington NM (rated one of the best public GC in the US), River View one in Bend Ore (A must for a good golfer and scenery) and in Kirkland NM (mixes the new style and old style courses). 4 Hills (private in Albuquerque NM).  Kino Springs in Nogalas AZ (use to be the ranch of Steward Granger. You might see a deer or a couger, and lots of birds. (People come from all over the world just to photograph the birds at this GC).  There is a fun executive GC called Dorado in Tucson, AZ par 62, for those who lost distance on their drives.

  13. The Jubilee course at St Andrews. - tougher than the Old.

Tain and Brora in NE Scotland.

Thai Country Club outside of Bangkok.

Shot in the 90's in all of them.
