Depends whether you want to buy a boat or charter one... and also to some extent which of the Great Lakes you are boating on.

Both Boston Whalers and Grady Whites make an excellent boat: good hull design, functional cabin and accomodations and well-balanced power to weight ratios.

Now comes the part where you have to supply more information because at the moment you're sort of asking how long is a piece of string.

If money is no object and you have experience running a boat then look for something in the 10 metre / 35 foot range...  GW's Express 360 fits that bill. But if you are looking for something smaller, try a center console boat... the Fisherman 222 again from GW might be a better choice... its fast and will handle moderate seas (8 foot beam).
