If you want a great offline guide try the Good Food Guide which the Sydney Morning Herald published every year. The 'hatted' restaurants are guaranteed to be good. There's also the Cheap Eats guide for less expensive restaurants, pubs and cafes.

Mietta's and Eatability are by far the best for Sydney.  My friends and I always use those sites.
