  1. hahahaha what a question!

if you're close to them, a shotgun shell or two will bring most things down, and it has stopping power.

from far away, a rifle with a good sight/scope (im serious) and a steady hand will provide you with a headshot of the animal in question =)

    medium range...id suggest...assault rifle =p ^^

  2. The tried, true, tested, and proven to be the Best is the 30-06 since 1906.* You have a greater variety of bullet weights to choose from with the 30-06.* It has Harvested more Big Game than any other caliber except for the 30-30 Winchester.* I prefer the 180 or 220 grain myself.*

  3. I'm with most ppl here on the 30-06 it has more nock down power than a 270 but will not blow up a deer like a 300 mag problem is range but most game will be within 300 yards.

  4. most people would say the 30-06 which can do everything in north america but i prefer a 300. wsm

  5. 30-06 is probably the most popular rifle caliber for hunting.

Delivered through a bolt action rifle.

  6. family and i have used the 30.06 for all that you have listed except for elk and moose...dont want to pay the price that is needed to hunt those two and no moose in cali...

  7. 7mm Rem Mag

    .308 Winchester

  8. use a browning 50 cal jk. try useing a 30o6

  9. try getting a springfield 1903a3, there are plenty of sporterized ones out there for cheap.

  10. A 30.06 is very good and can be loaded up or down for various game.  I for one wouldn't hunt Alaska Brown bears with anything less than Weatherby 300 mag perferably larger (338 375 416 458).

One of these, it'll kill them, jerk them and make hamburger all at the same time:  http://search.yahoo.com/search?ei=utf-8&...

  11. That all depends what you would be looking at, rifle, shotgun, or handgun.

For rifle, the 30-06 is my first choice. Great stopping power, reliable, very popular so there wouldn't be a great shortage of ammo, and its a fun gun to plink a little with. It can take game over 100 yards away cleanly, and it is very vercatile.

If you are looking for a shotgun then you would want to go with a 12 ga. You would only want to use rifled slugs in it if it is a smooth bore, as shotshell is illegal to use to take these game in most states. You could also get a rifled shotgun, which fires a non rifled slug and is accurate over 100 yards. The smooth bore is accurate to about 100 yards.

For handgun, there are a quite a few different choices out there, but the range of some of them is quite limited. The calibers that would be sane to use (becuase smaller ones you would have to unload on the game if you aren't a good shot) are the .44 magnum and harder hitting bullets. The one that would be a guarnteed take down in one shot on all of them, can come in a barrel length of about 12" and is extreamly hard hitting with 300 grain bullets is the .500 Smith & Wesson. This cartidge is a wrist breaker in my opinion (and by that I mean it's way too much power, and way more power than you ever need) and I would not recomend it. The .454 casull, the .460 S&W are both revolver calibers that are great for taking animals at long distances, and the .45 Winchester Magnum and the .50 A.E. are great auto loading pistol cartridges for hunting.

Hope this answers your question. Sorry if it's a tad long.

  12. in the United States and North America, .30-06 will take anything. world wide, id say .375 H&H Magnum, though .30-06 has been used successfully to take elephants.

  13. I'd say the .375 H&H mag, if you handload you can load these down to pretty mild loads, or you can crank out full power magnum loads that'll bring down anything except maybe an elephant.  You can do the same with the .458 Winchester mag, and that will down anything on earth.  If you want a lighter caliber, I'd go with the .300 Win. Mag.

  14. a 30-06 or a .308 most versatile rounds made.

  15. the 30\06 has been proven to take those animals but if u wanted to be sure u could use a 300 win mag

  16. If I am going to hunt bear and boar, it will be with a 200 gr or larger bullet.  Moose and Elk over a long distance will also be a 200 gr round.  For Whitetail Deer, a 150-180 gr round will do the job quite well.

All of these choices fit within factory loads for the .300 Win Mag.   Sure you can get 200gr loads for a .30-06, but they are slow and certainly not flat shooting.

Will a .30-06 work?  Certainly as has been proven by all of the successful hunts for every North American game which exists.  If I have the opportunity to choose between the 2 for a single caliber to hunt all of the game listed and then some, I will choose the .300 Win Mag.

  17. Over the years just about all the critters you listed have been taken with the .30-06 or .30 WCF.

If you told me I could only hunt North America and own 1 rifle..I'd probably keep an '06.
